There was an error performing the search
An error during a scheduled database upgrade on the eve of December 6th caused ISNIC's web forwarding to fail. This affected all domains that use web forwarding and all services under those domains. Domains not using web forwarding were not affected.
The error was discovered and fixed at 14:00 UTC on December 6th.
An invalid .is zone was dstributed to the .is secondary servers at 14:43 today. Due to a botched server upgrade the DNSSEC signatures on the .is zone were invalid. The problem was resolved by 15:20. This resulted in some validating-resolvers being unable to resolve .is names during this period.
In the last 24 hours both DEV and PRODUCTION environments for EPP got IPv6 connectivity. For clients connecting only over IPv4 this will have no effect, but if your client is IPv6 enabled then it might start accessing the EPP servers over IPv6. This means that the ACL will have to be updated with the IPv6 addresses of your client machines accessing the EPP services.
We would also like to remind everybody about the 1st October deadline of setting the contact type (role/person) when creating contacts. After the deadline, it will become mandatory to set the type of contact, failure to do so will throw an error.
Happy Friday,
ISNIC
Dear ISNIC's service provider, EPP and SOAP user.
ISNIC is working hard on it's GDPR compliance these days and we need you to check your procedures.
As you know from our latest news item, names, addresses and phonenumbers of all domain contacts (NIC-handle) classifed as persons will by default be withheld from ISNIC's public Whois before May 25th.
We need you to make sure your client's contacts (NIC-handles) are correctly classified (person vs role) before we make this change, before May 25th.
All personal NIC-handles of .is domains should be classifed as person. All others should be classified as role.
NOTE - Those using our depreciated SOAP API to create or transfer .is domains will need to change over to using EPP before October 1 2018.
ISNIC the .is Registry
The grace period (i.e the period from when the domain is suspended until it is deleted) for .is domains has been 60 days from the beginning. This period will after April 1st. 2018 be shortened to 30 days, counting from the renewal date of the domain.
The reason for this is simply to get deleted domains back on the market one month sooner and to align the .is domain rules to international conventions. After this change ISNIC will also inform the registrant precisely when the domain will be deleted, regardless of any holidays. This means that the so called holiday rule will also be abandoned (.is domains were never deleted on icelandic holidays).
The third reason for this change, and perhaps the most important one, is to increase automation and enabling ISNIC to maintain stable registration- and renewal fees in spite of cost increases.
Kind regards from the high north,
Jens Pétur Jensen, CEO
ISNIC the .is Registry
Reykjavik, Iceland.
ISNIC will perform maintainance on the billing system on monday 3rd april.
The service window is 22:00 - 02:00 and during the window database operations are reduced or unavailable.
Á mánudaginn næsta, 3. apríl, verður vefur ISNIC settur í viðhalds-ham. Á meðan er ekki hægt að gera breytingar og lénaskráningar. Áætlaður tími er á milli 22 og 02.
Dear API users,
ISNIC's board decided to lower the year fee of .is domains to €29.90, exl. VAT, effective immediately.

Stjórn INTÍS (Internets á Íslandi hf. sem m.a. rekur ISNIC) samþykkti 14,35% lækkun á árgjaldi .is-léns. Gjaldið lækkar um kr. 1.002 og verður nýtt árgjald því kr. 5.980 m/vsk.
Sincerely/Kv,
ISNIC
Hi,
We will change how we store registrants in our database during a service window on September 30th. To do that we will take one of our databases offline sometime between 07:00 and 09:00 UTC. The database will be offline for about 60 min while we migrate data.
During the database migration we will take our website offline and that includes the SOAP API.
The SOAP API interface does not change though.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Cheers,
Axel Tómasson

Breytingar á hegðun í fallinu checkDomain() verða gerðar á næstu dögum. Hingað til hefur fallið skilað 0 fyrir ólögleg lénanöfn, þar sem fallið hefur eingögnu athugað hvort lénið sé nú þegar skráð. Hin breytta virkni verður á þann veg að fallið mun skila -2 fyrir lénanöfn sem ekki eru lögleg. Það er því hægt að ganga út frá því að ef checkDomain skilar 0 þá sé lénið gilt og að hægt að skrá það.
Breytingarnar fara út á dev svæði í dag og er gert ráð fyrir að þær fari í production á næstu dögum.

Changes will be made to the function checkDomain() in the next couple of days. Until now the function has return 0 all invalid domainnames, since the function only checked if the domain was already registered. The new behaviour will be that -2 will be returned if the doman is not a valid .is domain. You can therefor assume that if checkDomain returns 0, that the domain is available and can be registered.
These changes will go to the dev servers today and we plan to move them to production in the next couple of days.

Dear ISNIC API users,
our API servers will be upgraded early next week. This is a OS upgrade and we're expecting very little service interruptions. The production API service should not be offline, but run on a backup server momentarily during the change.
We expect api-dev to be upgraded monday morning, before 12AM and upon successful operations for a day or so, we'll upgrade api (production) on wednesday morning, before 12AM.

Stýrikerfisuppfærslur á api og api-dev þjónum ISNIC verða framvæmdar á mánudag- og miðvikudag. Þar sem hægt er að nota varavél á meðan skipt er um vél fyrir API gerum við ráð fyrir mjög litlum truflunum.
