We would like to invite you to join us on Wednesday, October 6th 2021, for an ICANN-organized webinar on the history of the Root Server System. The webinar starts at noon (UTC) and will last approximately 30min.
The informal lecture will take the audience from the beginnings of the DNS in 1983 through the present day. It will focus on the development of the Root Server System from just one root server to today’s 13 root servers, and explain some of the mystery behind why the root servers are assigned the way they are. It will highlight the status of root service in the local region. Finally, it will discuss the next steps in Root Server System governance.
